Skratch Makaniks:The Future of Turntablism

Philadelphia has always been known as the birthplace of the worlds most innovative DJs. In the 80's, Philly gave us masterminds like DJ Jazzy Jeff & Cash Money. Each in his own respect, broke the rules of music by creating art with two turntables and a mixer. DJ Excel established The Skratch Makaniks Crew in 2000. The members involved are friends that have known and respected each other throughout their years in the "game". Each one a veteran in their craft, the Makaniks have come together as the most complete DJ crew in the Philadelphia's hip hop world. Jay Ski, Sat One, Adam Bomb, Kwestion, Excel, Aktive, A.Vee, Spinbad, Bee, Jey One, Bane, Rab & Elixer are all well respected names in the music scene. Today, DJ Excel & his crew, the Skratch Makaniks, are revitalizing that lost art and breathing life back into the fundamentals of hip hop, while adding a flavor all their own.
